Wedding

November 4, 2012

[better late than not at all — my entry in the poem-a-day Writers Digest marketing campaign — Day 1]

Nothing fits, a striped tie
plaid shirt in patterns of green
maroon corduroy pants

My father would say, “You
look like a groom at a Polack
wedding.”  But better that than
no wedding.  Would the Bride
be blond?  Thick in the calves
& thighs, skilled in the kitchen
as in the bedroom?  Would she
appreciate my genuine, flirty
smile?  When we lied down
together would the pieces
match, now & forever?
